Retail Business Development Manager (BDM)

Role Purpose

The Retail Business Development Manager (BDM) will play a pivotal role in expanding the firm’s retail distribution footprint. The primary objective is to drive quality net inflows from Independent Financial Advisors (IFAs) through building new relationships, strengthening existing partnerships, and effectively positioning the firm’s fund offering.

This role suits a commercially astute, self-driven professional with strong industry relationships and a genuine passion for investments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with IFAs, wealth practices, multi-managers, and platform partners.
  • Proactively drive net inflows into the firm’s retail fund range.
  • Deliver presentations, workshops, product updates, and market insights to key stakeholders.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across regions, channels, and platforms.
  • Partner with the investment team to ensure clear and compelling product positioning.
  • Maintain accurate CRM reporting, pipeline management, and market intelligence.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and roadshows.
  • Provide valuable market feedback to product, marketing, and investment teams.

Key Requirements

  • 5–7+ years’ experience in retail distribution, business development, or investment consulting.
  • Established IFA relationships with a proven ability to generate inflows.
  • Strong understanding of unit trusts, hedge funds, CIS structures, and broader investment solutions.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Investments, or Economics (CFP® advantageous).
