About the Role:
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Head of Middle Office to lead a high-performing investment operations function. This role is responsible for overseeing investment valuations, portfolio performance analytics, product control, and portfolio implementation and transitions. Acting as the critical link between Investment Management and Operations, you will ensure the accuracy, integrity and governance of investment data while driving operational excellence, automation and continuous improvement.
You will lead specialist teams, engage with senior stakeholders and executive committees, oversee valuation governance, performance reporting, portfolio transitions, and risk management, while championing process optimisation and strategic business initiatives.
Experience:
- 7–10 years’ experience within the financial services or investment industry.
- Proven experience in instrument valuations, investment performance reporting, portfolio analytics, and implementation or transition management.
- Strong understanding of investment products, including derivatives and complex financial instruments.
- Product Control experience within an Investment Banking environment, ideally covering exotic or derivative products.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing specialist teams.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience leading process improvement, automation and system enhancement initiatives.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Postgraduate qualification in Finance, Accounting, Investments or a related field.
- CA(SA) qualification preferred.
- CFA, FRM or an equivalent professional investment designation will be highly advantageous.
