A Cape Town based reputable boutique asset manager, is looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager. The firm has built a strong reputation for delivering long-term investment results and is led by highly experienced directors and portfolio managers who remain actively involved in the business.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Business Development and will be responsible for managing intermediary relationships and driving retail investment flows into the company’s funds. This is a key role that requires a deep understanding of investments, strong relationship-building skills, and a proven ability to deliver results.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with IFAs, DFMs, wealth managers, and private banks.
- Drive new retail business opportunities and achieve sales targets.
- Represent the business at roadshows, client events, and one-on-one presentations.
- Provide market insights to support product positioning and strategy.
- Work closely with the marketing and investment teams on initiatives and campaigns.
- Ensure compliance with FAIS, FSCA, FICA, and TCF principles while maintaining accurate reporting.
Requirements
- 3–5 years’ experience in asset management
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
- Technical knowledge of unit trusts, balanced funds, equity funds, offshore feeders, and model portfolios
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Finance, Economics, Business, or related).
- FAIS-compliant with RE5 completed.
- Established intermediary network within the South African retail investment market.
- Proficiency in English and Afrikaans.
